The Luzzatti Ascarelli di Poggioreale District is now famous worldwide thanks to the novel, later turned into a television series, "My Brilliant Friend" by Elena Ferrante. However, the history of the district dates back to the 1950s when new public housing units were built to accommodate the working class of the emerging industrial zone in eastern Naples.
The "Rione dei Murales" aims to transform what was considered an anonymous place until recently into a point of interest, where art, through participation, can create an attraction hub following the model of the Parco dei Murales of East Naples.
